Influencer marketing: Building your personal brand

We all know that we can brand products and services. But have you ever really thought about what it takes to brand a person? Or how personal branding can help make you stand out as an influencer?

Tip 1: Get a photography style 

Successful influencers have content that reflects their audience's interests. Their content should also be cohesively designed to match. Think about the type of influencer you want to be and create a mood board of imagery that fits within this style. Take note of what's in the photos, the colours and how they're edited. Try to mimic this to maintain consistency across your posts and enhance your brand.

Tip 2: Come up with a catchy tagline 

Try to focus your tagline around 2 or 3 of your key skills or attributes and make sure it’s short and sweet. For example, a fitness enthusiast could add the tagline 'gym junkie' to their social media profiles. These words were carefully chosen to reflect their niche and also to be memorable to the audience.

Tip 3: Keep colours consistent 

Just like Coca Cola’s red and Cadbury's purple, you can have your brand colour. Think about the industry that you are hoping to get into and the colours that are most appropriate for that. If you want to become a beauty influencer, consider pink. If you’re thinking about becoming a fitness guru, vibrant blue or green could add a healthy touch. You can also use colour as a way of conveying your personality. Make sure you include this colour on all of your emails, social platforms and everything you do that represents your brand.
